Description
The Orient Mako GMT RA-BC0005L30B is the GMT model in Orient’s Mako sports line, limited to 4,000 pieces. It is a 42.8 mm steel watch for a second time zone, not the 41.8 mm Mako / Kamasu case and not a dress watch.
The dial is a blue gradient, lighter through the centre and darker toward the edge. Applied luminous markers, a triangle at 12, and a date window at 3 o’clock. There is no day display. Silver hour and minute hands, a blue seconds hand, and a blue arrow-tipped 24-hour hand. The dial reads Orient Automatic, GMT, and Water Resistant 20 bar. The bezel is a 24-hour scale, blue on the upper half and grey on the lower, in a black-plated coin edge. It is not a 60-minute dive timer.
Calibre F6P22 is Orient’s in-house automatic for this model: hand-winding, hacking seconds, 22 jewels, power reserve over 40 hours, rated +25 to −15 seconds a day. The 24-hour hand is linked to the hour hand. It does not jump on its own. Set local time on the normal hands, then turn the unidirectional bezel so the 24-hour hand points at the hour you want to track. That is a caller-style GMT, useful for a home time zone or a city you phone, not a traveller GMT that shifts the hour hand by itself.
The case is stainless steel, 42.8 mm across, 49.5 mm lug-to-lug, and 13.4 mm thick, with 22 mm lugs. Orient lists the weight at 177 g. Sapphire crystal, screw-down crown, screw case back, and 200 m / 20 bar water resistance. Orient does not class it as an ISO dive watch. The rating is for swimming and surface water, not a scuba certification, and the bezel is there for the second time zone rather than elapsed dive time. The bracelet is SUS316L steel with a trifold deployant clasp, push-button release, and a safety latch. Orient also lists magnetic resistance to JIS Type 1 (4,800 A/m or higher) and a wrist range of about 140 to 200 mm.
The catalogue case back is engraved Limited Edition and 0000/4000. That 0000 marking is a sample engraving in the product photo, not the serial of the watch we send. The same case back is marked Made in Thailand, sapphire crystal, stainless steel, and water resistant 20 bar.
